Didnt cover much distance today. Left John and Heather's about 9:30am, the weather was beautiful and we decided that Port Fairy was nice enough to stay the night. Means a slight shuffle of next couple of nights but what the hell!!

Heard today "We are sitting on the balcony of our little cabin in Port Fairy.
The sun is shining as we look out at the river and birds. The ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia buckgw... from Melbourne! Monday 30th March we stayed in Ballarat, and spent pretty much all of the next day at Sovereign Hill, which was fascinating & both Graham & I could easily have spent much longer there. We went down two different Gold Mines, saw the Gold Battery working, watched Gold being poured and saw a small platoon of Redcoats celebrating victory at Sebastapol amongst lots of other things. We should really have stayed another night and gone back today ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia lizmac... out the place he's from in South Australia tried it with some fairly ****** outcomes...a bit of me versus them attitude. Headed back on the bike (much easier on the way home although this may been due to the amber ale). Aaron set up the Cobb cooker with some FANTASTIC results. We had slow-cooked/smoked chicken, seasoned with Italian Herbs, with cous cous on the side - AMAZING. The cooker was definitely worth the cash we ...
Port Fairy, Australia kiannmac... early as we were racing back to Adelaide to get there in time for Kim's birthday. Dusk or dawn is the best time to spot roos, and spot them we did in the dozens!! We saw a baby joey jump into its mother's pouch and also saw a pair of roos boxing, the video of which I've put up for your viewing pleasure. It was hilarious, but it was also very disconcerting the way every single Kangaroo stopped and stared at us as we drove slowly past. Maybe they ...
Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia lydsandemmetRyan and I drove to Warrnambool today via the Great Ocean Road. It was cloudy some of the day but still beautiful! It took all day but it was worth it...and the pictures turned out!! Tomorrow we will be driving back a different way to see other national parks.
Warrnambool, Australia martelln... friendliness...ha ha) After a tearful parting with Gertie (We want our freedom back!!) we checked back into the 'Ritz Backpackers' and headed straight for the local pub to drown our sorrows! However, the sun was shinin', the drink was a flowin' and soon Gertie was nothing but someone we had once shared a thressome with!! Ah good memories & empty glasses!! So the sun went down with a cold drink chillin in our right hand and we eventually gave in to our tired ...
Port Campbell, Australia flojoyHello Beautiful People. What a treat to stay somewhere called Port Fairy, it was as cute as it sounds. I went there for a folk festival and worked on Peruvian stall. Beautiful Jewelery. I discovered I like selling pretty things to people. Working with colour. It's funny when I walk through a market if the stall owner so much as looks at me I run a mile. What a bore. I saw some of those folk too. But lots of people like a chat, and they like to hear what you think ...
Port Fairy, Australia sammmilesToday we had a really fun day. We went to the other side of Melbourne - had to take 2 trams to get there. They have quite a public bus/tram system. The trams run on tracks by electricity. We bought a day pass for $6.50. When you get on the bus you put your card in this slot & it reads it & spits it back to you. There are a couple of these machines to run your card thru on each bus, not near the driver. The driver sits in this ...
Melbourne, Australia gloria18... it was a better idea to drive through there tomorrow morning as it's supposed to be quite a pretty little town.

We struggled to find accommodation in Warnambool, but eventually found a ...
Warnambool, Australia al_fey... this was the first time I'd seen wildlife on the road, usually I assumed the warnings were lying! A nervous ride to the coast followed, underestimating the vast distance between places and the general lack of petrol stations meant we arrived in Port Fairy with the fuel light having been on for 15 minutes!! We were able to see Griffiths Island off the coastline before dark. Another cold night proceeded in the car ...
