So today after our flight was 1 hour delayed (damn Ryanair!) we managed to arrive safely into Madrid, navigate our way to the hotel and get a good nights rest.
I got such a suprise at how warm it was at night! Was great!
Our hotel was perfect, large and roomy, with air con!!
The lift was TINY! Seriously - there were 2 lifts and one of them was only a 2 man lift, WITHOUT bags! Was hilarious!!
Marvellous Madrid The number of available destinations from East Midlands Airport seems to be growing on a daily basis - with Sterling Air a newcomer offering flights several times a week to each of Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm, BMI Baby announcing flights to Gdansk and Ryanair rapidly increasing the number of European choices. We are regulars with Ryanair despite our dislike of the free-for-all boarding system that occurs regularly but Sterling Air remain a cheap airline but with allocated...
Madrid, Spain elaine.deanSoooo it's been quite a long time since I've updated... and I've been to Northern Ireland and Belgium since I've last posted, but it's late and tomorrow's St. Patrick's Day and the next day I leave for Switzerland and France so I need to get my Spain info up really quick! So here's a general outline of Jack and my time in Spain: Tuesday Arrived and had to fill out info at immigration Woman asked for train money... awkwardly said no cuz we're pretty sure she was scamming Shuttle to hotel MINIA...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands emily.adamsWith Diana and Michelle Flew to Madrid-arrived early afternoon. We split up to check inot our hotels. Ours was near the Grand Via. The odd shaped elevators and they always stopped on the 2nd floor. Met Michelle under the Tio Pepe sign in the Plaza del Sol and ate at a local restaurant-ravioli. Toured the Palace-beautiful! Chandeliers, asian decor, roccocco sculted ceilings. Nice armory. Many different languages heard. The loud party in the cafeteria upstairs with the dancer and the music-it w...

... the hostel until about noon, then set out... all of a sudden there were fighter jets flying overhead, plus biplanes and helicopters. WTF? We continued towards the main square and saw tons of police--what´s going on? We finally asked and felt pretty stupid not knowing it was the national holiday, or that the big parade just ended at noon! Not to mention the 4 days before were full of fesitivites... yet another missed festival.
But the nice thing about a holiday is ...
... happy to let me do the talking and get us along on our way. Even though I don't speak French, I'm still the de-facto translator for the group. For dinner, we decided to go to Plaza Mayor and get some nice tapas. We had some calamares, croquetas y paella. It was nice to sit at the plaza and just watch all the people nearby and listen to the music of the buskers. After dinner, we only took two steps when the Chinese masseuses came up to us and guided us to their chairs in the plaza for ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands bsuarez... a runway in Milan or Paris. Three out of four were brunettes, and four out of four were all naturally beautiful. Air Comet - I will DEFINITELY fly your friendly skies again! I ordered an OJ and was shortchanged 50 cents by the exotic brunette. I didn't argue. I only nodded, smiled, and drooled, like a man that had just walked out of a lobotomy operation. No complaints, only goosebumps. I tried speaking Spanish but she shut down my ...

Madrid, Spain angecolleen... sentiment of the smaller norther towns with its laneway quarters, tall, ornate architecture and smell of cigars, though with 5 million inhabitants, the place is indeed just another big city. We were told by skippy that the place is notorious for parks full of prostitutes going for a very competitive rate, as well as significant petty crime that grew with the break down of the borders for the formation of the European Union. Now, i don´t ...
Madrid, Spain thesaxmanOnce again I find myself in the beautiful city of Madrid. This time I have planned to stay overnight too so I take advantage of that and take a tour through the fantastic sites! Beeing in Madrid after 4 months in Latinoamerica is, as you can imagine, a cultural shock for me... too stressy, to hectic and fast, and everything too damn organised!!!
