      Last Day at Republica Canil

... good. Summed up living in the Republica; everyone helping with the BBQ, friends came over and once the meat started cooking, everyone just started joking around and chilling out.

Republica life is radically different from most uni life in Europe, the only thing which is similar is frat life in the US, but even this is not an exact comparison. In Republicas ...

      Last Day at Work

A travel blog entry by frankcg on Aug 21, 2014

Tomorrow is a holiday in Araraquara to commemorate the founding of the city and as such, the university is closed, making today my last day at UNESP/CEMPEQC...
I'm going to really miss this place! I've enjoyed working here immensely; the work hasn't really been taxing or complex but here I've learnt more than anywhere else. All the people I've worked with have been great, I've enjoyed turning up every morning and just helping whoever ...

      Foga Na Ropa

A travel blog entry by frankcg on Aug 17, 2014

A travel blog entry by frankcg on Aug 08, 2014

Not really done anything too exciting this week, other than playing some futsal against other republicas.
The teacher and support staff strike that has been going on at UNESP is going to end and classes will start again next week. It's great because everyone is coming back to Araraquara and Canil will probably be full!
Around the chemistry campus it's been getting busier with people this week because the July vacation ended and the increasing ...

      Bio-Hydrogen Conference

A travel blog entry by frankcg on Aug 01, 2014

On Thursday and Friday I attended the 4th Brasilian Bio-Hydrogen Conference in Sao Carlos. It was all in Portuguese but I can understand most of the writing. I learnt a lot about bio-hydrogen, because of the numerous Interval for "Coffee Break" that there were, allowing people to tell me about their work in English.
The Brasilian time zone still annoys me, I got up a six, walked to chemistry in Araraquara for 7 and waited ...
