... is now the gift shop. This location is an "Official Laura Ingalls Wilder Homesite", and this particular one is where the first book, "Little House on the Prairie" is based. I know I read all of the books as a child and that both of our daughters, Laura and Kim did also as I made sure of it. The kids were able to go out into the surrounding neighborhoods to order food, shop, and speak with the locals. This valuable real life experience gave them the opportunity to use their Chinese speaking abilities in the best environment suited to practice a language. They eagerly took advantage of the situation and I was proud to see them practice their Chinese!
