This morning we wrestled with the intricacies of posting parcels. We were given great help by the lady in our local PO and we have high hopes that this box will arrive. Much recommended by Brigitte was the Gobelin Museum of tapestries given royal patronage in 1662. We missed the Thursday tour but spent a happy hour admiring the 17th century hangings from various chateaux and ...

We went to the Louvre today! It is different from when I was last here in 1986 and is split into three separate 'houses' or areas. Yes, I know it is a bit cheesy, but we did find it as a way of getting around, relaxingly, to all the sights we hadn't seen. Especially when the Metro is all in French; we'd be hopeless, and it would be stressful, getting around. So we left the hotel and walked a couple of hundred metres down to the nearest stop for ...

... places we go here we get a soundtrack, with buskers everywhere. We wandered down this street with lots of little cafés and got ourselves some crepes with bananas and chocolate sauce. The chocolate was insanely good! Then it was off to ten Champs de Élysées on our way to the Arc de Triomphe, which is in the centre of the city. It is a beautiful arch, built by Naploeon to welcome his victorious soldiers home from ...
