Front desk not present, had to call for service. Hotel is not very old, still in good clean condition. It's out of the way and occupancy was low.

We were joined by Sarah, Evan, Rebecca and Graham so had a house full of kids, lots of croquet, knitting, campfires and special places ( Treasure Island). On Saturday Sandra, Keith, Kate, Holly and Bear joined us for a rollicking BBQ and day of fun. On Sunday we headed back for one more night at Jimmy and Helen's where Daryl and Heather ...

In the morning, we decided to drive the "heritage trail" a self-guided car tour through Amish country that leads you past farms, villages and a cheese factory where we caught a glimpse of the production of cheese, and, of course, bought some for the road ahead.

In the afternoon, as the sky was getting darker, we hit the ...

For each greeting your life is a clean slate without a past subject to judgment. Mountains to seas, prairies to swamps, rolling hills and flatlands – you drive onward, void of intimidation. After all, maybe it really is the harbor you fear the ...

So we had a quick camper breakfast and got on the road at 9:00 am. As expected, it's flat farmlands but not as flat as we all imagined. Still beautiful. The Heartlands of America.

Some rough weather in Illinois. Glad to be out of that state for several reasons. Finally made it to Iowa where there was lots of corn and even more windmill farms.

      Quick stop for ...

... was not much time to spare. As I laid back in the chair the radio station alerted area viewers of an escaped prisoner in a white jump suit with a hostage scampering through our neck of the woods. At this point I needed a nap and just turned the radio off and hoped for the power of Lorraine to protect us. We had already witnessed a man walking down the interstate hours before the sunrise as well as another underpass with a few dogs hanging along the side of the road. All of ...
