Our first day on the road was mostly trying to put miles between home and our first attraction, Mount Rushmore, Rapid City, South Dakota.

Is the physical border between Iowa and Illinois. Right after we crossed it through the bridge we made a stop to the best-located information center of our trip. Although it's not clear from the picture, the spot is overlooking the interface of the two states and the bridge that is linking them.

Front desk not present, had to call for service. Hotel is not very old, still in good clean condition. It's out of the way and occupancy was low.
