We got up early, had some cereal and packed up. On the way out we had a last pleasant chat with our lady Park Host/Ranger friend. When we told her we were off to Yosemite on Highway 120 she exclaimed "Are you sure, the 120!! In an RV??" As I'd driven it through SF and (nearly) survived I wouldn't be phased. Jesus. No Really - Jesus.
First we pootled through more endless olive groves and finally the road got bendy ...
... Harold and Maralee, who are parked next to us here (we're in Site 506 - a pretty decent site, for future reference, although the park in total is in dire need of some TLC). I need to get a picture of them to post!
Watched the Indy 500 today, and for the first time ever, Greg and I cheered for one of the Busch Brothers, as Kurt was running in the 500, and finished pretty decently, in 6th. Unfortunately, he ...
... no generator). As we pulled out of the campground there were a few flecks of snow in the air.
As we reached the Mariposa grove the snow really started to fall, not puffy flakes but solid marbles of snow which covered the ground very quickly. We had not come all this way to miss the giant redwoods so we launched up the trail and saw what we had come to see. These trees are solid and enormous. Standing in the forest alongside ...

Melissa had given us a Starbucks card that morning and by the afternoon we had already purchased four coffees with it - thanks Melissa! You're great! Starbucks not only has wonderful coffee, but free wireless internet as well - great for updating blogs and checking emails.
Back at Earl's home, we took some pics of the orange and lemon trees ...
... Also, they have been giving us tons of goodies. Lord knows if we'll be able to fit it all but we'll give it a go! I swear, going to the parent's house is like visiting a huge department store... they have everything! We've been able to see Grandma twice. She's looking good and she's still trucking along at 95 years old! I hope I can be so lucky. We are leaving town on Sunday morning to head over to Big Sur. It'll be fun to be on the road ...
