A very romantic place! Places of interest includes the Castle Ruins of Heidelberg (tram ride needed), Funicular Railways (there are 3 stations) worth to take all 3 stations especially the highest to see rhine river which is breathtaking, University (oldest in Germany), City, Church of the Holy Ghost, so many shops to check. Bridge gate. I would agree with Jose Rizal that you will fall in love with Heidelberg!

... poetry, so I was rushed through. The truth be told, even I got bored after an hour of Nibelungen lore.
Before heading home, we all stopped at a local bakery to get a hot drink and a pastry. The décor was pleasant, but the deserts left much to be desired. Tracy pointed out the fruit flies covering a crumb cake of some sort in the display case – one to be served to customers. There is no way the employees did not know; fruit flies on food must not be ...

... be proud; I think time almost stopped in the Christmas store. It was so sparkly and festive, a very happy place.
I wisely saved Philsophenweg for the next day, allowing a little rest from the stair master treatment. The path starts with a monkey guarding the old bridge, which was mobbed by Japanese tourists snapping photos every time I passed by. The mobs thinned to a trickle by the end of the bridge ...
Well we didn't really spend much time in Frankenthal. It was really just a stopover since we arrived a day early for my mum to arrive in Frankfurt.
We got to Frankfurt and found a call shop to help us find a hostel/hotel for a good price. Unfortunately there weren’t any in Frankfurt so we made our way to Frankenthal about 30 minutes outside of Frankfurt. One piece of advice…when parking in paid parking areas make sure you pay! Haha…we ...
So today we are departing Heidelberg. Last night we had our last Heidelberg beer at the Roten Oksen (The Red Ox), which in its day was Mark Twain's favorite bar. I always marvel that places like that survive the centuries- in America, we'd have knocked it down decades ago, put up a condo, and named it The Mark Twain in memoriam.
I liked Heidelberg- it's hard not to, with its stunning castle ruins hanging ...

Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany rush0517... a castle and a hard rock cafe. I appreciated my Dad footing the bill to send me as a teen to Europe because it was a very gracious gift, but I have to say I am embarassed that I forgot so much about it before I am even 30 years old.
Overall it was a great idea to go back. Jessica is great. (If you did not know that) Oh and the Chicago Bears are great too, but not as great.
Zach you can take your packers helmet and shove it....but you're still awesome.
That will save me a lot of travel time so close to the end of my trip. I can't believe that there are only about 3 weeks left, and that I have been here a month today. Its been so much fun. I am glad I went to Heidelberg, it is such a neat little (well not so little) city. It sits right on the riverbanks in the midst of a little valley. The "old town" little streets and alleys are so neat. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants along them. There are tons of ...
