    ... two bedroom cabin had all the amenities, idyllic setting and not another soul to be seen or heard. It even had TWO hottubs! Saturday we had a lazy morning and took off to the villages nearby. A couple of little craft shops and a wander around a homecraft festival was interrupted by a 5 minute rain shower, and we took off to sample the local vineyards 'produce', which was lovely (and free!). lunch ...

    ... weather. It was almost constantly uphill, but at a very gentle slope that let me do the entire 13 miles with only one couple minute break. We made such good time that we reached the shelter around 1 pm with plenty of daylight left.     Day 1: 9.5 miles, Springer Mountain to somewhere near Horse Gap
    Day 2: 6.3 miles, near Horse Gap to Gooch Mountain Shelter
    Day 3: 8.5 miles, Gooch Mountain Shelter to Lance Creek Campsite

    ... famed Amicalola Falls - 3rd highest in the USA and the start/end of the Appalachian Trail. And then hiked from the visitor center to the falls and back on two different trials. Maybe 3 miles or 1/1,000th of the famed Trail. Like spending 10 minutes at the Grand Canyon!
