Historical Traveler Reviews of Best Western Airport Excutel Hotel Seattle

Our Second Visit

from jriviera77
This was our second stay at this property, so needless to say we found our first stay to be pleasant and comfortable. We found the rooms to be spacious and clean and quite nicely furnished. Having read some of the other comments, I'm suprised at people's opinions. This BW is excellent value for the money...we thought the pool and hot tub great, the breakfast excellent, (especially compared to what we've had in much higher priced hotels), and the staff friendly. We stayed at the front, on the highway , our first visit, and at the back, where planes were taking off, this time. We found neither the traffic noise, or the airport noise the least bit bothersome, didn't even notice. We did experience trouble in finding our room, and had to go back and ask at the front desk for directions again...I suppose this could be annoying to some, however, we found it quite amusing...I guess we weren't as weary as other travellers who seemed to find it a huge problem. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, were more than pleased with the cost of the room and the amenities, and will most definitely be staying there again.

You couldn't pay me to stay here again

from kengaroo
I stayed here 1 night with my daughter on April 5. We were going to Miami Beach, and stayed and parked our vehicle here before leaving. Being a Best Western, I had no concerns about the quality of the place. What a misconception that was. Checked in at 4pm, and went to our room. It was a single bed, not 2 beds as booked. Rechecked into a 2 bed untit, but ended up walking what felt like 2 city blocks to get to the room. The layout of this place is simply the worst. Not enough elevators means you do a LOT of hallway walking. The hallways smelled like a bar full of stale smoke, as did the elevator. It was so rotten smelling. The room was decent enough, nothing like what any Best Western has ever been though that I have ever stayed in before...simply the most plain and unattractive room ever. I asked to be woke up at 3:30 to catch the 4am shuttle. I never got the call, but had set the alarm clock for 3:45 just in case. Scrambled to get to the shuttle in time, only to find out the driver was nowhere to be found. At 4:15 we finally left, and after being asked who we were flying with, were dropped off. We were (all 8 of us) dropped off at the farthest point possible at the airport from where our flight check-in point actually was. I have reached the conclusion this hotel and it's staff insist on anyone staying with them to have to walk at least 2 miles for every 24 hour period you have to deal with them. Upon returning, I called the hotel to let them know I needed to be picked up, and when I could be. Was told it was based simply upon request, and the shuttle would be there within 10 minutes. 20 minutes later in the rainy weather and very cold, no shuttle. Called again, and was told there must have been confusion during the shift change. It would be there in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, no shuttle. Called again, and was assurred the shuttle was just leaving. 15 minutes later it finally showed up...perfect timing to get caught in the beginning of rush hour traffic I had hoped to avoid. From the first call made to get picked up, to the time we were dropped off at our vehicle, was 1 hour and 10 minutes...not impressive. I simply hated the fact we had to start our trip and end our trip with these people. The room and the parking ended up costing $87 total...not a bargain to say the least, and really sucked to end up in such a rundown dump that this place is. There are far better places to stay that are cheaper overall. Avoid this place unless you enjoy stress.

Very Average Digs

from ncwmallard
Have stayed at the Best Western Airport Executel in Sea-Tac a couple of times in the last two months. It is a very average property.

The rooms are fine. Comfortable enough beds and roomy too - though not much of a view.

The pool is decent but the one time I tried it a bit over chlorinated.

The fitness center consists of one exercise bike....that's all.

The restaurant and bar operations are definitely an afterthought.

Continental breakfast has been decent.

The hotel has not been good about posting Best Western Gold Card miles (in case you are a member) - I had to call one month after each stay to get them to credit me the points I was owed.

There is an IHOP close by - and decent restaurants a couple of miles down the road either way. I wouldn't go for a walk from the hotel at night though - it is not the best neighborhood.

All in all - an okay place if you are spending the night before going to the airport and the price is very reasonable.

A pleasant surprise

from thrifty
This hotel turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. We were not expecting too much, however we had a very enjoyable stay and no complaints at all.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. The reception desk and other staff were very friendly and helpful. The evening meal in the lounge bar/restaurant was amazingly good and the breakfast too.

There is a shuttle service to/from the airport but also there is a bus-stop close to the hotel, so we used public transport to get downtown and back without any hassle.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is good value for money.

Convenient hotel, nice and reasonably clean

from UK_Traveller3000
The BW Airport Executel was a convenient, clean hotel near the airport (we stayed there after arriving and rented a car, so I don't know whether the airport shuttle is crowded as they usually are). It had a pool, which was small, so it was more like a tub for a family. Unfortunately, we got a room across from the vending machines and got to listen to loud conversations, but otherwise the rooms were clean and quiet, even though they faced a major road. Breakfast was also good, with biscuits and boiled eggs, as well as bagels and muffins. In all, I'd recommend it.

Value for money

from Airboy
We (my wife & I) have stayed several times ove the years. The last times where twice in Jan 2005. The beds have got softer and are now excellent. The airport service is prompt and quick and parking is fine, even if outside. When the restaurant is closed (Sundays) there is a 24 hour International House of Pancakes a few blocks away. Rooms are clean and if you remember the lobby is on the 2nd floor the room numbering works fine. For what we want - somewhere clean, comfortable and convenient to the airport to sleep before or after a flight it fits the bill for a reasonable price. We will be staying here again, which is the best recommendation I can give.

A good deal

from A TripAdvisor Member
Well, I am in the minority here, I see. I actually had a very pleasant stay here. Less than 5 minutes from the airport, 24 hour shuttle was right on time, even at 0400, and I only waited about 10 minutes for them to pick me up on return.

I got a very fair price for a night's stay and parking for over a week. My car was safe and sound, I was delivered literally to the car on my return.

It's not the Red Lion, but the price was not, either. A clean, very comfortable place to stay with great pool and sauna. Nice stop over.

I am going back as I make this trip often and it worked well.

There are better places

from dmills1956
There are better hotels for park n Fly packages.

(Try the Red Lion)

The parking lot is around the back and outside.

The elevator is at the back of the building and makes it inconvienent when your room is in the front part of the building.

Numbering system confusing..

Most BW's are offering wireless Internet, but not this one.

Lost in space!

from sarah123
Stayed here for 1 (short!) night prior to going to the airport in July 2004. The layout was very confusing, and badly sign posted - it took me about 20 minutes to find my room, with poor directions twice from reception! Pool in basement looked ok - and was easier to find than the room! Room was ok. Early breakfasts (coffee, fruit, cereal, pastries) useful if catching an early flight.

There are Better Options near SEA-TAC.

from airlinestuff
This place is advertised as an airport hotel/motel, and it really isn't, other than the fact that you can see/hear airplanes taking off.

The only plus about this BW is a large room.

Other than that:

- Too far from the airport.

- Marginal location.

- Restaurant/lounge closed on Sundays.

- No internet connection.

- Poor cable TV selection.

What exactly is an Executel anyway?
