    ... the one café has closed down. What’s worse, it’s now raining. Wow – look – a fire truck! Ah. There’s been an accident and the power lines are down across the highway. Ok, so we need to head east along highway 22 for about half an hour, then double back on highway 130, then we’ll re-join highway 101 about five miles down the road. Oh, and watch out for the one lane bridges – got it!

    ... morning. Dad says he and I will go to Starbucks while mom does her exercise thing. Mom and dad had lunch at a place called Local Oceans Seafood. Mom was happy to enjoy some oyster shooters. All the seafood is local and most of the seafood they buy off the local fishing boats. A stroll along the pier afterwards to see the Sea Lions was fun.....but are they noisy! More Newport tomorrow and then some hiking along with seeing Yaquina bay ...

    ... back to Newport. Saturday was a day about Newport. We visited some of the quaint shops near Nye Beach and tried to have a late lunch at Nanna's. When our lunch plans were thwarted we called the Rogue Brewery to make sure they could accommodated my knee scooter. The person on the phone said yes and we worked our way over the Yaquina Bay Bridge to the brewery. It was not to be however. We were refused a table because the brewery had booked the lower dining room ...

    Our exciting conclusion to the Oregon Lighthouse series features two lighthouses, tide pools, and wildlife. It might be my favorite post yet. Both lighthouses (Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head, not confusing at all) are found in Newport, one of the largest communities on the coast, complete with a working harbor and lots of seafood ...

    ... is thriving more than before the blast in 1980. Do you remember it? I know I do even though so long ago. From there we headed south to Portland, Oregon to have an oil change on the bike with 3.100+ miles it was time. We had scheduled in advance but were way layed there for about 2 hours. Another bike broke down from out of state that they were working on so that took priority. Was very glad to hear they took care of ...
