This morning we departed Medford for a 3 hour drive to Newport. Newport is a small town located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Louise drove the first leg of the trip, her first time driving in the US on the other side of the road. The roads were rather up and down and curvy through the valleys. After a few short pit stops along the way we …

It was misty and overcast but as we rode only 20 miles south the mist went away and the sun broke thru what a sight we could finally see the ocean. I asked Shane a question, do you smell it? ... is so cold....not much warmer outside as its only about 65-70 degrees at the max. I dipped my toe in the water and got brain freeze.

Yahats is a little village of 600 or so people, really quaint with big wooden houses on the beach with great gardens made up of wild flowers.

We had fish and chips at a local place...great chowder and fish tacos.

... of course I have the fish tacos while everyone else tries the chowder. I tasted the chowder and it was very good. The tacos were also good.

Now we head north again on highway 101. First stop is boiler bay where we see whales spouting. Pretty impressive. Then a stop at the Ben Jones Bridge and back to Days Inn at Newport, Oregon
