Best West High Country Motor Inn Bright

I haven't been to Beechworth since we were taken up for our Grade 6 school camp (quite some time ago, I can assure you!) so I'd been really looking forward to the weekend away. The closer we got though, the more difficult it started being as the week before was so busy and I ended up shuffling the equipment I needed to pack to work a few days before. We then spent a few hours at Beechworth, an historic little town which still has an operating telegraph station. We went on a scenic drive along the gorge (which was quite narrow with our big bus!)

After we headed down to the town of Bright and then into Mount Beauty, stopping at the overlooks of the town.

Today was the day we went & saw & stood in snow for the first time. So exciting. We set off with our own personal tour guide at 8:30am. It was a rainy/foggy drive up there. Our guide told us that it was -6.5 at Mt Hotham & that it was snowing. Woo hoo. It's very surreal seeing the snow for the first time on the side of the road & also on the cars. We arrived at Beechworth only half an hour away from Wanganderry. As we arrived in Beechworth,we found a caravan park.We took it and started putting up the caravan.While mum and dad were taking up the caravan,Marc and I were riding our bikes to the park and throwing the frisbee. BRIGHT (19/4 - 24/4/09) Travelled along the Murray Valley Highway then The Great Alpine Way. Had a very good trip and it was a beautiful warm, sunny day. The Caravan Park was adjacent to the Howett Park, which is located on the banks of the Ovens River. It is just beautiful, the river very low but bubbling along and the most magnificant trees in the most beautiful colours. ... up to The Horn which is a rocky peak (standing at 1723m - 500m shorter than Mt Kosciuszko) that offered 360 degree views of the Australian Alps and after a quick twelve minute walk it was breathtaking. Never before have we stood alone and witnessed a more spectacular view. If you are ever in Victoria you must visit Mt Buffalo and visit The Horn. ... rtchen nach uns benannt, wobei wir leider nach dem Ortsschild vergeblich nach Häusern gesucht haben. Ob hier wohl überhaupt jemand wohnt????) nach Mount Beauty gefahren. Um nach Mount Beauty zu kommen muss man wieder über eine kleine Bergkette drüber um in das Tal zu gelangen in dem der Ort Mount Beauty liegt. Auf dem Weg ins Tal hat sich mir dann doch ein eher vertrauter Anblick geboten. Denn sowohl Matt als auch mich hat dieses Tal doch sehr an das tiroler Voralpenland ...

... in America. It is 15 hours on the aeroplane! When we get to America we stay in a hotel for the day and SLEEP! Then at midnight we get on the aeroplane to Costa Rica. Grandad will pick us up at the airport and drive us to his house up in the mountains. Granny and Uncle Dan will arrive from England on the same day. I am very excited. It will be a lot of fun.
