Portland, Maine, United States jimcabayNi hao! (Hello in Chinese...pronounced "knee how")<br><br>We are now one week away from our departure and realizing that next week at this time we will be in the air over the Pacific and headed to China! The accumulating of stuff is coming to an end and the real packing is beginning. The girls love the whole packing thing...their mother...not so much. Excitement is in the air as the count down begins. <br><br>We are looking forward to ...
Portland, Maine, United States solingchina... a ride on an authentic old time train around the city's harbor and see many of the extraordinary sites that have stood for decades.<br> Most of the city is compact and perfectly walkable. There is so much to see and do that you will never feel bored or disappointed. One thing for sure, you definitely will not go hungry or run out of places to shop! The Old Port District is the historic side of Portland, and it is a wonderful area reminiscent of America's humble beginnings.
Portland, Maine, United States katstravelAfter the smog and the grime of NYC, I thought that some clean air would probably do me good so I have been in New England for the last few days. I've been in all 6 of the NE states at one point or another and have done a fair bit of driving but some of the places I have seen are beautiful and well worth the miles I've been clocking up. I'm sure that if I was the sort of person who knew a lot ...
South Portland, Maine, United States hollidaywe sailed into boothsbay in the dark (as usual). we only had limited lights, so it was a crew effort to communicate with chris who was motoring the boat in via GPS coordinates and autopilot. <br><br>"boat at 1 o'clock!" <br><br> "mooring at 11 o'clock!" <br><br> we successfully docked (at the wrong dock than planned but we docked none the less). we had hoped to get farther up the coast but the last few days had been light wind (cary said ...

Portland, Maine, United States gocarygoNorthern New England Following on from Rhode Island we have continued in a circular route. Williamstown - Massachusetts We next headed north to Williamstown. The drive up was mainly through the forested hills known as the Berkshires. It was difficult to see much, as most of the time we were under siege by thunderstorms, with rain so heavy even with the wipers on full it was difficult to make out the road. We were based on the edge of town and as there ...
Freeport, Maine, United States andyfreshwater... name!) the wind hasn't abated and it seems that kite flying is a national pastime on the east coast. If nothing else it looks like the cheapest and most entertaining means for small children - give them a plot of land of any size and typical off shore gusts and you have some happy kids (just make sure you don't get them one too big!). We pulled in briefly to Bath because, well its called Bath and we were hoping for a chippie. I don't think ...
Freeport, Maine, United States pumpkinqueenOn Day 2 of our trip to Maine, we made a stop at the Portland Head Light as we made our way south to Ogunquit. We walked the Marginal Way and scoured the beach for treasures. Had our first lobster rolls at Billy's Chowder House (yum!) and got donuts at Congdon's (double yum!). Drove to Kennebunkport and drove along Ocean Avenue. Made our way north ...
