On New Years Eve, we drove to Idyllwild located in the San Jacinto mountains in the San Bernardino National Forest above Palm Springs. As we climbed from 1600 ft to 6500 ft (considered the sheerest escarpment in the US), the temperature dropped from +23 to +8 then, we encountered 18"of SNOW. Of course it was melting already but the shady spots were icy.
