... to different decades which were accompanied by music from their era. The 20s room was mostly trinkets, a crazy armadillo and a piece of the original road. The 30s and 40s rooms were primarily gas stationed themed with old gas pumps, old cars and signs. The best room was the 50s room! It was made up to look like an old fashioned diner. We goofed off in there for quite some time. Brandon even ...
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States funkinthetrunkFor the romantic, the legend says that Tocum lost the battle for Cari's hand, at which point Cari killed herself. Her father the chief, distraught over this turn of events, also killed himself saying "Tocum-Cari, Tocum-Cari". It's probably some mundane thing like lookoutpoint, or buffalo hunt, but for the dreamer in us. Having left Ok City early this ...

Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States pawelekDay 171 Amarillo - Texas - Tucumcari - New Mexico The night was another cold one, (gee Danial thanks for the comment! ) frost on the ground when we woke up this morning; but a beautiful sky with the sun burning off the frost rather quickly. Packing up as quick as we could, before the frost bite took a nasty toll on our fingers, we set off to visit the second largest canyon in the USA. Taking just 35 minutes we arrived at the Canyon entrance, paid the fee ($10) for a day pass and ...
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States popusa2008We had planned on leaving Roswell early and picking up Ti in Albuquerque this morning, but just as we were packing up we received a call from Ti that he had missed his flight. This news interfered with my carefully laid out itinerary, but it actually improved our day. Instead of rushing to Albuquerque, we were able to take our time and watch Venus beat Serena at Wimbledon. Instead of spending half the day driving west to ...
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States sarahl56Now we officially started our Route 66 self-guided tour. We began from Tucumcari, NM with the hopes of checking out their dinosaur museum. Unfortunately, the museum was closed due to it being a Monday as well as a holiday. The rest of the city was not impressive so we decided to move on back to TX via the historic Route 66.
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States fishy979Of all the neon signs along 66, this one is probably the most famous. Even people not that familiar with 66 might recognize this one. Unfortunatley, we pulled in for the night and the sign is turned off. We new that the hotel was closed until spring but hoped it ...
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States ramblinraaschIt is a beautiful cool morning in New Mexico. The winds died down sometime during the night. I turned on the air conditioner to create white noise so I could sleep. Right now I am watching the cows make their way across a field in front of my cabin. The calves are kicking up their heels to play. I ...

I have had a longing to visit there since I was a kid and someone introduced me to petrified wood. I have included several photos from the Petrified forest as well as a few others from my days journey. Enjoy ...
Tucumcari, New Mexico, United States tonalgraceToday started with a monster parade. The whole town turned out for this event. Marty got to ride on the 1957 "float" (A semi with folding chairs). Photos to follow. The school mascot is a rattlesnake, and he got to ride in the car with the parade marshal. They rode around town for about an hour and one-half. They must have covered ...
