    Quick stop in Clearwater.

    ... humid) and we were on the way to Destin which was halfway between Clearwater and New Orleans. It was a 6 hour drive so I wasn't particularly looking forward to it... Clearwater was a great stop, it was fun having the dog and good company in the apartment and the beach was ok. It probably was a bit too touristy for me. A lot of billboards and signs and American chavs possibly. The sea was lovely but the apartment made up for it and at least we got to visit the restaurant ...

    ... the waterfront/shops. Denise brought fudge. This towns claim to fame is sponges. It is known as the sponge capital of the world and apparently provides 70% of the sponges sold around the world. We did a short boat tour and got the history of sponge diving and experienced how they are harvested.

    Re-opened the mushroom camper to the air in the morning sun and headed into the greek sponge docks. Walked the strip bringing back memories of being there with the kids. :) Stopped in for Greek Salad, gyro and the best baklava ever!!! Max, you'd be drooling over this stuff.
