      ... The town wanted to build a larger facility but could not get the jays franchise to contribute any money into the project threatening, even at that time to head to Phoenix! and the smaller town was stretched to its limits so could only build the present stadium seating just over 5000 seats...they are sold out most spring training seats ...but in talking to many visitors who can't get ...

      ... of reminded me of the area around the Phoenix arena..
      Amalie arena is very nice ....holds over 19000 people and we weren't surprised to see a terrific show of red jerseys on the streets prior to game time. Also, we were treated to a performance of an Irish band just outside the doors
      Gametime- the fans around us were a mix of hometown and many québécois Canadians ...all in good spirits..We sat up in the third tier ...

      ... the waterfront/shops. Denise brought fudge. This towns claim to fame is sponges. It is known as the sponge capital of the world and apparently provides 70% of the sponges sold around the world. We did a short boat tour and got the history of sponge diving and experienced how they are harvested.

      After Tarpon springs we headed off to find one of the beaches Tampa is famous for. We wound up at St Pete Beach which is west of Tampa Bay. After struggling to find ...

      ... or any other creatures other than some bird life.
      The beach here was 3 miles long and voted Americas most beautiful natural beach in 2013. It however does have some of the best sea shells on the beach that I have come across. Came home with a nice collection and put them to soak in bleach for a few hours while I make a plan on what to do with them......
      The day was lovely...78-82 degrees F with a nice breeze on the beach.
