... the other things that I enjoy about wandering around the planet were no longer wowing me. I was tired. One of the perils of long term travel is to think that it's just one long vacation but really you have to approach it a bit more like a job and remember to take weekends off and and enjoy an occasion mini vacation. My self-imposed schedule didn't leave enough time for a week or 2 of vacation so I kept going.

... when you've been in the car a week and you're living in hotels the routine gets REALLY old, especially when you're ready to get to your destination. Turns out there was a huge pile up on route 40 that afternoon so theoretically we were wise in holding off another day, but Day 8 and the open road can't come fast enough!
Deciding to take an optimistic stance towards our stationary situation, I headed out for an afternoon of ...
... you take what you can get. Again our book on tape/ipod pulled threw and kept the boredom at bay. By the end of the day we were out of the plains and into the beginnings of mountains and CO!
We had dinner at the hotel, which was delightful. Afterward I met a friend for drinks, and HH and her sister gave me the nightlife tour of Boulder. Couldn't think of a better or more exciting way to see the city! The next day (Day 5) the plan was to head to Steamboat ...
Linda and I are addicted. We generally can make it to 4 or 5 in the afternoon but in the past few weeks it seems to have gotten more intense and we've indulged in our addiction earlier in the day, and, once, in the morning. Like all addicts, we convince ourselves that it doesn't interfere with our lives, we're in control, we can stop any time...HA! No, it has become clear that dominoes rule our lives. And although dominoes seems ...
Boulder, Colorado, United States margreet98This was my first time trad climb. The climbing area called Boulderado was located about 8.8 miles up the canyon from Boulder, CO. There is a large turn out on the left side of the road at the end of a sweeping right hand turn. The rock is directly across the road ...
Boulder, Colorado, United States westtsai2006... and I won't be left behind. Yes, Honduras is off the beaten path, or any path for that matter, and currently doesn't have an internationally recognized government but these are details, minor details. The de-facto president has promised a chicken in every pot and a rooster in every doorway, something our government hasn't done ...
Boulder, Colorado, United States sonneville... of the easier stretches I could even practice other skills - riding goofy (with my other foot in front than I usually have), and spinning on my board. We also did a long stretch through some trees to cut between rails. That was SO fun! The snow in the trees is mostly untouched powder, so soft and deep. Even though I couldn't maneuver around the trees very well (don't worry, I wasn't going fast) and feel about every 5 feet, it was great! Falling into ...
Boulder, Colorado, United States dkg2002... lot of fun. There were some KU students there, and John had a little fun offering them directions back to Kansas. A few minutes later, the two girls he said that two were nice enough to bring him a shot - a Prairie Fire (tequila and tabasco, mmmm...) we later realized - and John was manly enough to take it. Good man :) Another nice day in Boulder! Sun, 10/21- The forecast had called for snow on Sunday, and sure ...
Boulder, Colorado, United States dkg2002When we arrived in Winter Park, we found plenty of new snow and even fresh stuff falling from the sky. We went in and bought tickets at the base of the ski resort. Luckily Lloyd had a two for one ticket coupon for Winter Park Resort for Vlad and I that he got from the Entertainment guide. He had a season ski pass since he was one of those lucky guys that lives out there and goes on weekends or ditches work ...
Winter park, Colorado, United States mknott... like the first time. What did I learn then that could help me now? I'm having a hard time remembering, which is encouraging me all the more to get serious about journaling everything. I'm constantly surprised with how much I wish I would have written down to help reference things I'm doing in life right now. With that in mind, thanks for reading and encouraging this record of transition.
