... tracks run parallel between the highway and the river. It made for a very Huck Finn feel. The town is obsessed with Mark Twain, because it was his boyhood town. Everything is named in regards to him. I saw a sign for "home of the Mark Twain fried chicken!" What? Oh tourist traps.... ... and wanted to get to campground.. $19night with electric. No cell service, will leave early in the morning. Jim is working and needs the service plus, not a nice place to hang out. Buggy and the trees/woods look rather sickly and uninviting. We took off around 8:30 am. Landed in a town off the interstate and did laundry at laundromat -nicer one than last time. Jim conference call.

... did not know that Mark Twain had written so many books and that he drew so much from his childhood experiences and as an adult researching by going/doing. Also his families history gave a great insight into life at that time. fascinating stuff! There were also several other houses in the downtown area that were lived in by people when Samuel lived there and found their way into his books.
