... June’s Comments:

The drive to Portland was quick – we only stopped for gas and fast food. The visit with Tom, Denise and Foster from Thursday to Monday was well worth the long drive. We took two days to drive back to Milton. Besides Montreal, the weather was very mild and the trees sported their usual fall colors for this time of year.

Getting ready to travel - departure date 10/25

... our travels with you through this blog and hope it goes successfully. One of our audiences will be Sophie and Isabelle's classes...."hello fellow classmates/teachers". We hope to bring to this blog our personal experiences and reactions as well as some history and educational value. The girls would also like to challenge the classes with periodic questions about our destination to see if the classes can come up with the answers.

... a ride on an authentic old time train around the city's harbor and see many of the extraordinary sites that have stood for decades.
Most of the city is compact and perfectly walkable. There is so much to see and do that you will never feel bored or disappointed. One thing for sure, you definitely will not go hungry or run out of places to shop! The Old Port District is the historic side of Portland, and it is a wonderful area reminiscent of America's humble beginnings.

... days per year. There are no locks on the doors! I could have purchased a camoflagued hunting outfit, a hunting blind and hipwaiters.........but decided to pass! Other than the hunting and fishing "stuff" the store has some great merchandise.
We settled into our timeshare which is much smaller than what we are accustomed to but suits us just fine. It has a mini-kitchen with fridge, microwave and small sink. The next morning we awoke to ...

... silverware, not plastic like Bar Harbor! It was yummy!

Tomorrow it is down the coast to Boston, and our favorite restaurant, Durgin Park. If you haven't been there, Google it. It has been there since Columbus discovered Boston, and the list of celebrities that have eaten there covers the walls. It is no-frills and long picnic tables with butcher paper. It's kinda like Dick's last resort with history!

Be good to each other and stay dry.

... words, I'd be lost for them. As it is, I had to content myself with saying, 'wow' and 'ooh' a lot. If I had a camera, I definitely would've taken some photos. But I don't, so I didn't.

That's kind of been me for the last few days really; stopping at places that sounded interesting and then trying to find a motel when I've started to feel tired. It's all been very liberating, which ...

what a great city!

... in cold snow for the majority of the year i'd consider moving there.

for lunch we sailed up to a seafood restaurant called Cook's. we had a slight buoy mishap, that sent me running around the small bay to save the buoy but it was also the first exercise i'd had in days so that was good.

lunch at Cook's was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. we had steam-ahs and fresh maine lobstah in maine. simple boiled lobstah. it was awesome.

... this time to Home Depot for some insulation for the bus. We also stopped in at a motor spares shop for some spares and had a very interesting conversation regarding rear fog lights, or rather the total lack of them in the US. One guy in particular could not get his head around why such a thing would be necessary. If it’s foggy and someone runs into the back of you, you just claim against his or her ...
