    ... a 60 mile diversion through Nebraska because part of the main Route 80 had been washed away by a storm which again we missed. We chatted briefly with a state trouper who gave us rerouted directions. The drive was actually very nice and Chris did a stint too - her first on the "wrong" side of the road. We also headed a little further up the road to see Registry Cliff, where many of those who passed this area carved their names into the soft stone on the cliffs.     ... Rushmore KOA, but since our travel delays pushed the stay over July 4th, we had to split our stay between there and the Custer KOA about 30 minutes away. The Mount Rushmore KOA is massive. I think it's the second largest KOA in the country, and they cater to kids.     ... and tour the cave. We arrived there around 5:00 and were immediately greeted by a bison crossing the road; our first sighting of one of these majestic animals.
