          ... Learning about how it was thought up and created was definitely my favorite part. Then, we left for Crazy Horse - a memorial statue being carved in the side of a mountain to honor a Native American hero. It was an awesome stop, but it made me hate America. We stayed at Crazy Horse pretty late because we really wanted to see the laser show that they put on when it gets dark. However, this caused me some stress because we didn't have a hotel ...

          After the Badlands, we had to stop at Wall Drug. Victor and I had started to see the repeating road signs in Iowa even before we picked up Rich. South Dakota's version of South of the Border, we went to see what it all was about. Cleaner and friendlier that South of the Border we can now say "been there, done that". It was about 4 blocks of tourist t-shirts and knick knacks under one roof. The ice cream was good.

          ... satisfied with our wildlife count, we continued on our merry way. As we turned southward on State Road 87 we once again saw a solitary buffalo wandering along the side of the road...and then we went around the corner! Another herd! This one appeared to be the biggest of the three herds that we saw today. This herd was on the move. Several had the road blocked, and it was very exciting to watch them.           ... east and then south to Wind Cave National Park through Sundance, Wyoming, where Margaret and Larry used to live, then down through Jewel Cave National Monument to Custer and on to the Campground in Wind Cave NP.

          Apparently there is a HUGE bike rally in Sturgis South Dakota as we are seeing Harley's everywhere. Read more later.

          Badlands, Bison and Mt Rushmore

          ... in the low sixties and very windy. We both put on our Yosemite jackets. After the gravel, wind stopped and it got hot.

          Spent the rest of the time on the Badlands Loop Road which runs northwest to southeast. Stopped at most of the overlooks. All had very scenic views. Badlands reminded us of a mini Zion with its different color strata.

          After the Badlands, drove 30 miles east to west on a nearly deserted road from Interior to Scenic. At Scenic ...
