From the hectic pace of New York City, landing in Washington DC was a nice change of pace!! On arrival we walked down to Union Station, which unbeknown to us was the entire length of Massachusetts Ave and if you know DC it's huge! Nevertheless we got down there to get our refund sorted by Amtrak. As it was nice and hot we jumped on the Trolley and managed to see Marine One on the lawns of the White House ...

... of our time there a heavy dude policeman with a fierce German shepherd-looking dog went through, the dog sniffing here and there. ... everybody not to tweet about what happens in season two before he has a chance to watch (season two was only just released) - he must be a fan!!

The Lincoln Memorial and becoming more familiar with the Civil War history has been enjoyable. Coming in winter to these attractions has also been a bonus. The lines have been about a tenth of what they could be looking at the capacity of the line up areas.

All in all, really great - better then expected.

What an amazing day. I drove south from DC to visit the Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle Virginia today.
