... all of out business except for a bar or two and there were still a small corner store that was open. Driving through town was a sad site and we could easily tell this place was once a booming community but now is merely run down, boarded up and mostly out of business.
Next stop Historic Jeffferson, TX.
Caddo Lake State Park is a beautiful State Park in East Texas. We pulled into Caddo expecting to enjoy beautiful fall weather, do some fishing, sightseeing and river boat tours. However much of the park, and surrounding area, is under water. Two of the campgrounds were closed but ours was high enough to ...
Karnack, Texas, United States _travel_along_We thought we were leaving Texas, but didn't quite make it, we are near the border with Louisiana near Shreveport. Tomorrow we hope to make Vicksburg, similar to Gettysburg the scene of a well known Civil War battle.
Fun yesterday, Bob & Mary Sue's pool/volleyball party, although I have used it for a few outgoing calls I had not received a call on my mobile/cell phone since buying it in California ...
... auto wreckers close to highways (and to control rats), controlling outdoor advertising signs and planting colorful native flowers along the highways. It looks nice! The further north you go, the dirt changes from a sandy brown color to an orange/red. The water in dugouts is orange and is a muddy dark brown in rivers and creeks. When we crossed the border between Texas and Louisiana, the highway went from 4 lanes to 2 and for a moment, we thought we ...
Shreveport, Louisiana, United States jimcabay... a number of flowering shrubs - all in a rolling hills setting. The houses are set back 100ft, most are constructed of brick and several have corrals for horses. Very nice! · Crooked Hollow Golf Course - We hadn't golfed for awhile so decided to try this 18 hole tree-lined fairway course with lots of water hazards and double tiered greens surrounded by GRASS bunkers - talk about frustrating! The course was not in very good shape - the fairways were ...
Shreveport, Louisiana, United States jimcabaySo it's almost 5AM, day of departure. Haven't finished the laundry, much less packing. Everything is a mess right now and the only thing I am sure of is how awesome this is going to be. I feel a little guilty leaving for the holidays, but those who know me understand I would throw myself under a bus for my family. This is generally the time I spend at home with them to really catch up. I think they understand though. Now time for a little sleep before the hectic day starts.
Bossier City, Louisiana, United States sockmonkey70... reached all three states. We had an excellent lunch at George's Grill. The Coconut Ice Box Pie was especially tasty. I will add more about Shreveport tomorrow.... See our Shreveport Louisiana Sightseeing Photos Copyright 2008, Round America and William M. Windsor

Shreveport, Louisiana, United States martin_retoGood morning! It feels so early, since I am an entire time zone to the west! We arrived safely at Alisha's parent's house last night, but it was pretty late so I didn't write or call anybody. It is a pretty day, going to be very warm and humid though, and we are going to see an air show! Alisha's dad is a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force, so we are staying on base here in Louisiana. I just dug the cameras ...
Shreveport, Louisiana, United States quietseas... and disenfranchised. Things had degenerated to feeling like a flat on the verges of disintegrating - as long as you and yours were OK screw everyone else. We were glad to leave very early the next morning heading for Shreveport and Dr Dick and Judy Davis, who were the first globalfreeloaders to stay with us in Auckland. We stopped off in Vicksburg to visit the battlefields there, site of one of the longer and ...
