... enough to tick the box: `went to a nuddist beach´. . . I´m not mental . . and I do not care how much I care.

When we returned Tracy gave us some bad news about our cycling to come. Firstly, there was a heat wave due (last year it hit 57 degrees in land), there is a windy season, and we were about to cross the siera nevada (a massive mountain range). Apparently Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe. This along side the fact that I had ...
Vera, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01Air raid sound. Thats how we woke up this time. Although, no air raid, just a noise a near by factory makes every now and then. SO, considering I was up early thought I would go for a run and I ended up getting chased by a massive tractor and saw a flat dog. Nevertheless this would be a good and, hopefully, normal day because we had planned to arive in Vera where we would meet Tracy (one of my ...
Vera, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01Waking up late and having a lovely breakfast of old biscuits sets you up perfectly for riding on the motorway. The thing about cycling on the motorway is everybody driving on it wants to beep you. Why? i ask. Are you truly concerned for our safety? if so dont panic us by f-in beeping next to us! We are already dealing with loads of glass on the hard shoulder, articulated trucks flying ...
Águilas, Murcia, Spain chris_jones01... to a grocery store Consum and they had everything you could ever want to buy and more. Then we headed for the beach in Palomares Quita Pellejos. The sand was dark but the water was blue and it wasnt as crowded as Garrucha or Mojacar. The best beach was Mojacar white sand and blue blue water and very warm. There is a boulevard that runs along all of these beaches and it is lined with restaurants and souvenir ...
Palomares,Vera, Garrucha, MoJacar, Andalusia, Spain must_travelI had to wean myseft away from the area, and the next day just drove a bit up the coast, past more un(der)-developed beaches at Escullos and El Playazo, and ended up staying in Las Negras, another fishing village which is sleepy by the water-front but with massive construction going on behind it.
Las Negras, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruce... selling UK style food cheaper than the supermarkets but still far more expensive than at home. Most resorts have an "English" butcher, which sells cuts of meat that are more recognisable, but at a higher price than the Spanish butcher. There are the inevitable English-style pubs and Paddy's Bars. There are a number of free local papers, which advertise "English" plumbers, "English" electricians, whist ...
Garrucha, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetraveller... not ever having anything run smoothly, running out of money to go to Madrid, work getting in the way of things...life really. But now we're off. I'ts 47 degrees outside and I fixed the air-con in the car ready to leave yesterday (except that we didn't realize that we had to have Dads bloody passport stamped... done now!) So, we have an 8.30 appointment at the Embassy for the queue and probably a good 3-4hr wait to be seen. Luckily we've got somewhere to stay.
Arboleas, Spain capnconwayJetted back to London from Mumbai and then on to Spain for Tania and Ivan's wedding. Was nice to get back to the land of sit down toilets again. Had a great week eating, drinking and being merry. Nice to be able to leave my bag in one place for the week and chill out by the pool or beach each day as well. The wedding itself went off without a hitch. Lovely chapel, beautiful reception and plenety of food and drink. Tania and Ivan are off to the states for the honeymoon...enjoy!
Mojacar, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands briancrookeattracted by the promise of a 22km long stretch of land around this coast, pretty much creating a huge salt water lake with warm water. not as nice as we hoped, not helped by the presence of an airport directly adjacent to the only camping site, also next to airport was an army base whose members seem to enjoy flying their fighter jets close to the ground right near out campsite - i´ll never complain about the adelaide flight path again. had lots of trouble seeing the alhambra ...
Murica coast and Granada, Spain ash_gauld... the entire history...but it's the parts that matter...to me). They lived in a section of the Albaycin called "Barrio Sacromonte." It was just a VERY small area that housed the Muslims of the town. As the Muslim population grew, The Barrio expanded to include the Albaycin, a larger circle of Muslim influence. The population continued to grow and grow. They built La Alhambra to house Muslim royalty and keep watch over the Albaycin. Then, the Christians came! They overtook the city and the ...
