        ... of WW2. The church was bombed, of course, and the fires were so hot that anything metal melted. They actually have gargoyles who had rivers of metal rather than water coming out of their mouths (pic 1). It was a really incredible reminder of the power of fire and the horrors of war.

        There were a few of the giant statues that used to adorn the outside walls of the church in there as well. It’s easy to mistake their size when you see the church ...

        ... I might have been able to. Sad…

        In the end, I settled on watching Good Will Hunting since I know the movie well enough. I did learn how to say "what" in French cuz of that movie. Watch it again, kinda weird how many times they say “what.” Lol! My internet here is actually pretty good so I watched “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” instead which was incredibly cathartic.

        I decided to sleep in today and was afraid I was starting out ...

There's a very nice statue of Joan mounted on a horse and wielding a sword right outside the cathedral...I always love a strong woman! On the walk around the cathedral we ran into a library funded by Pittsburgh's own Andrew Carnegie...it was nice to get a taste of home ...
