    ... size, most things were last year’s and I know that I shop best in the company of others.

    However, we did find Wertheim! It sits on the confluence of the Tauber and Maine Rivers and at the time of our visit, the annual festival of music was in full swing. Another late night of German beer and dancing! Good fun, hopefully to be repeated next year. The parking area was across the river, so was reasonably quiet … the time the music actually stopped ...

    We are now in the land of wide river with occasional narrower channel sections, and very intermittent locks. We did 25 kilometers with 5 locks on Sunday and about 21 with 2 locks today. The speed limit is higher also so one can make lot of time.

    On the other hand, the river banks are not shored up like the canals are and the vegetation grows right into the river edge so you can't really just stop anywhere and tie up. There are ...
