Nijni-Novgorov, Russian Federation nicob... Sunday. Sunday came and so did the train. It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, we even met a lady who was a dog trainer (for shows and stuff like that). She had 3 small dogs with her, very hyperactive little things i must say. Anyways, we have arrived in Yekaterinburg and due to slight train issues will be here till the 7th August. So the blog for Yekaterinburg will follow soon. Hope everyone is well Mark and Peter

Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia hello-ulliNizny Novgorod was not stop we planned in the beginning, but was recommended by people we met and Tim wanted to see the Volga of the Boatmen. It was a very nice town with lots of nice looking churches and a kremlin on top of the hill. A girl in Mcdonalds seemed surprised that tourists would come to Nizny Novgorod but its a nice spot. We arrived in the morning and booked the train to go that night (saves accomodation!) so had a day to wander.
Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia ozitag... During the communism era, the city has lost a touch with the outside world as it hosted some of the Russian key industries (engineering, R&D, automobile and airplane industries). This is somehow visible in the overall industrial ambience.
Nizhny Novogorod, Russia tommnow25 October 2005 Kazan... We left Nizhni on Friday night, bound for the city of Kazan. It was an all night ride to the Tatar city. It's located in Tatarstan, a region or state of Russia. Although there are people of both religions living there, it is predominantly Islamic. Inside the Kremlin there are both an Orthodox church and a newly rebuilt Islamic mosque. This mosque was financed in large part by Saudi Arabian financiers. It was recently finished, just within the last few ...
NN, Russia hiraeth3Hello again everyone! The end of this week marks our half-way point here in Russia. In some ways it's gone by so very fast...then in others, it's been a very long time... :O) So, for the most part, I've gotten used to things here...but this weekend we will move in with our host families...so that will mix things up a little bit! I'm excited and a bit nervous at the same time. But I hope I get a good family and that it goes well. We ...
NN, Russia hiraeth3... counted gives the lie to where everyone's minds are. I had expectations and the odd doubt about this rail journey, but I suppose that expectation is a traveller's burden, as much as the back pack. Train number 3 will have borne us 7622km over a mere five and a half days. At times it's been as much as 8 hours behind schedule, but now it's bang on schedule, Moscow awaits, and it's been worth every second.
West of the Urals, Russia robjstaples... is the air I breathe and the nourishment on which I thrive. There is no more sin in me, and I have ceased to commit it. I have a good conscience, and know that I am walking in God's ways and doing his will; I know that my whole life is fashioned in accordance with that will, whether I walk or stand, sit or lie down, am awake or asleep. Every thought I speak and every deed I do I think and do according to His will. Wheresoever I be, at home or abroad, it is according to His gracious will..."
