    ... The walking tours were kept to a minimum due to the freezing temperatures, but we still got to see some really lovely things. We got to see the inside of the Dormition Cathedral and also have a tour of the Governors Palace. The palace was an interesting experience as we had a wonderful tour guide who wore period clothing and explained about the different rooms.     ... original frescos and icons. It was truly stunning. The colours of the frescos were brilliant and the icons as always overwhelming in their ornateness.

    We spent some time looking at a monastery where we had another impressive display of bell ringing and a chance to touch and spin a coin monument to the kopek which is supposed to mean you will always have money in your pocket. Hmm, we'll see!

    We awoke this morning to our last day on the Golden Ring with a visit to the local Kremlin. It's fairly small, but quite beautiful as our driver recommended. You could probably visit it all in about an hour, but one of the things we enjoyed about this Kremlin was that you could walk around the walls, giving you a higher view of the layout of the grounds.
