... chef being filmed out the front of the hotel and at a table on the terrace, just a few up from us so my quizzy nose will be in the background of most of his interview.

Baltic food: five excellent dinners out of five, and all the breakfasts spectacular. We have been so impressed by the quality and tastiness of the food.

And tomorrow it's finally on to Scotland, where we'll see our home-from-home for the first time. I am quite excited.

One thing to note on arrival in Riga, is that the terminal is tiny, with just 2 baggage carousels, which seems odd for a main transport hub (?). The temperature here is warm, although by dinner time I found it necessary to remove the fleece from around my waist and wear it instead, but that doesn't seem unreasonable given I'm almost in Scandinavia. ... in a beautiful park--three parks really, Esplanade and Bastion Hill and Kronvalda--that abut my hotel. Back "home" I got cleaned up and went to breakfast. There are many people and there is much food but, somehow, nobody in the world can make what they call an "American" breakfast as American's make them.
