... After our first venture down through the myriad of subterranean walkways we didn’t feel at all threatened and soon realised this is the norm and easily the most safety way to navigate these sometime (especially in this weather) treacherous intersections.

We recognised the entrance to the park by it’s grandiose neo-classical columns and were soon heading past the ice rink toward somewhere warmer in search of food.

... our fellow passengers were on the payroll of the Russian tourist board. Following on from the vodka, Leo pulls out cucumbers, bread and a huge slab of ham. He sends Alec to wash the cucumbers and begins chopping up the ham into thick slices. Clearly drinking vodka is an event. Alec returns and the small cucumbers are sliced lengthways. ... artistic merit of subways with the dancers creating a map of the subways. Then it was the flags of the 202 competing nations being brought out. It was then the speeches with Russian chief President Putin turning up. His speech focused on the value of sport & how it promotes friendliness. I wonder if he ever did sport? So from one closing ceremony to another I close this blog for the day.
