Day 1 - Moscow - Arrival: After taking off from Incheon (Seoul) Internattional Airport, cold and windy day, what was a clear and sunny. Leaving at 2:30pm, with a 9:30 hours of traveling to Moscow, I assumed the plane would be chasing the sun and there would be sunlight at Moscow which had us landing at 6pm. To my surprise, it was dark early (4pm), so I assumed as the flight continued my arrival would be at night and most probably cold. I arrived at the Sheremetyevo - Terminal 2 Airport (impor...
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation djbcom11Day 2, 22nd November the morning after I arrive in Moscow, my reception to Moscow (the airport) was cold and what appears it had been snowing from the snow on the ground and the ice formed from the snow that can be seen in the photos. Russia's day or I should say the sun light rises at about 8:30am and the day sets about 4pm. The Izolomov - Delta Hotel is very busy and accommodates all travelers. The breakfast that they put on is a banquet (fresh friut, ceral, bread, hot and cold food, juice...
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation djbcom11Returning to Australia - Stayed in Moscow. Xmas in Russia is on the 7th of January, yet a little less traffic on the roads, but shops and places still open and trading.
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation djbcom11Moscow is stunning. It's more urban than St. Petersburg with a population of 11 million. The sense of history is monumental. We were there for 10 days in the amazing Izmailov hotel, and visited many tasty restaurants as well as the sites. Red Square is gorgeous! St. Basil's Cathedral is opposite a gorgeous red-brick museum, and the Kremlin faces Gum, Russia's largest department store. Lenin's mausoleum is on the wall of the Kremlin. That was probably the craziest place we visited. It's this A...

... was called, but it had Russell Crowe, Michael from Arrested Development and Leeloo from The Fifth Element. Sans the bright orange hair...in any case, it was really confusing.
Once at the airport in Moscow, I headed to passport control (the section for foreign nationals was up an emphatically poorly lit escalator) where there was a slow but thankfully fairly short line. I had a little trouble figuring out what the dude ...
... my phone getting footy updates and Tom read his book. Line marking here is merely a suggestion to the drivers, road signs are ignored and it is every man for himself!
We passed hundreds of decrepid multi storey buildings... looked like they were falling down, can't imagine living in them. Makes us thankful for our beautiful cottage!!!
When we arrived at our 4,300 room hotel complex (small family run affair LOL), we met Olga, our guide who lives ...
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation wilhelm-... there is a victory, the Muscovites build a park, so there are many parks. We stopped in front of the University at a panoramic overlook and I found a vendor with real Russian glass figurines which were very cute. I mentioned a friend who brought me such a one from Czechoslovakia, and he went into a long rap including the word Chekoslovakie many times. Was he admitting they were really Czech, or denying it? We stopped by the Peter ...
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation voyager-sue... the dominant Galina barked some incomprehensible Russian babble at him), but then the efficient fire brigade showed up & all was well with the world again. Other activities have included the circus, which we decided to leave at the interval because of the impending appearance of animals in chains (a more effective protest might have been not buying a ticket in the 1st place). The fact that Man United were about to kick off against ...
Moscow, Russian Federation emex... of the higher-ups in Lenin's regime wanted to tear down St. Basil's, but Lenin refused as he liked the building too much. The subways were meant to replace religion with ornate architecture and propaganda. Even if the church looks different on the outside(St. Basil's) they all pretty much look the same on the inside. They are filled, floor to ceiling, with icons. Pretty to look at once, but gets boring after a whole week of them. You can't ...
