... to the apartment. It was just as well she did meet me as I doubt I would've been able to find it myself. It is on the top floor...actually its the attic...of an apartment block just off the main street in the town. A very nice apartment and for the first time in 3 weeks I won't be sleeping in a single bed (bunk or otherwise!).

Our next stop was much more pleasant.

We were given ample free time to explore a lovely pedestrian mall in a medieval section of Gdansk, lined with buildings that have been fully restored.

There were shops and restaurants; even a Hard Rock Café which looked completely out of place in a building that probably dated back to the 18th century.

... enjoyed the sunshine and feel no sadness with leaving tomorrow morning! Would I recommend it to fellow-travellers? I’m not sure – if you want to visit just to “tick that box”, then go for it! But, it is part of Russia, so it requires the complicated Russian Visa, though for holders of an EU Passport, you can get a 3-day Transit Visa, which is more than enough time!
