I asked the authorities in Azerbaijan the penalty for overstaying my visa and they said it was 400 euros. This is ridiculous. 400 euros for one day. I was not happy. Baku is not a cheap city, and so we decided to visit the tourist info for a list of cheap homestays or hostels. The Baku tourist info is a lovely modern, airconned office, where four bored ladies and two guys update their Facebook, touch up each other's make-up, or generally bore themselves to death. They do not have any information, nor do they seem much interested in searching for it.
