    ... time so the plan was just to sleep in the car park outside and check in first thing. The security guard did actually let us in just inside the site to another car park which was good if him as this meant we could sleep with the doors open without any worries which we have to do as it gets so hot in the van with them closed.. After a quick shower on the site, we hit the hay at around 3am!! It had been a long long day and we were definitely ready for bed!! Night night!! ...

    ... roads, it was over 30 miles, with speeds rarely exceeding 20 miles per hour given the curves. The scenery was breathtaking, but the driving got old, very quickly. I was very happy when we came down from the hills and could see the massive monastery complex sitting off in the distance.

    ... vermouth, other than it is used in a martini...which I hate. What they gave us was an herbed liquor, dark in color, and served chilled. It was outstanding. I wanted to buy some, but what they had was literally just made for their own consumption.     ... walked back up the hill, I got my first look at THE stairs, which were in fact a few steps built into a corner of the steep hill. You could clearly see where the van had chipped off the corner of the top step's tile. It became known as "Allen's Step." I then walked back down to the van and took a closer look at the van.     ... got us back on the proprty search. In town we spotted two other properties so went off to find the local agent. He spoke no English so the next hour or so were interesting. I'd asked about one place but he got the keys for another on the same street. One was very old and a big project. The second was fully renovated and very nice but too expensive. Then he showed a third, a new build flat. The search will continue....
