... with all the essentials we were going to need for the week. When we got back we managed to get onto our pitch and got set up, bit of an awkward squeeze as the pitch is long but only 5m wide so to ensure we could get the van out when we needed to we had to squeeze it all in a bit. ... when we asked for a table, the lady told us we'd have to wait an hour and a half which would have been cutting it pretty fine... We umed and arred a bit and then she told us we could eat at the bar if we could find a spot so we went for that option and struck Gold... There was a little table for two around the bar area that people had just left so we quickly jumped on that and were served just as if we would have been in the restaurant.. At this point, it was well after 5:00pm and we had a 6:00pm tasting scheduled with a family winemaker in Gratallops. The girls elected to not join us for this one, so we went back to the hotel, dropped them off, and then walked about three minutes to reach the winery, which was enclosed in the middle of the town, inside a 400-year-old family manor, purpose built over a wine cellar. ... as you could see. The towns are sprinkled everywhere and joined by an excellent network of well maintained roads. That said, the roads are all extremely narrow and invariably windy. It became a running joke that the roads were all well marked, with white lines drawn to indicate the outer edges and the median. That said, the roads' width would vary widely, but not the lines, so more often than not the lane in which I was driving was a foot or more too ...

... Catalan foods that night -- Iberico ham, and Pom de Tomate (rustic bread toasted and then infused with the juice of ripe tomatoes on top). The entire meal was sublime and the wine exceptional. In fact, I ended up purchasing some of the wine we had this first night as it really stood out to me.

Luckily we had only to walk up a couple of flights to our rooms. It was almost midnight when we turned in and I know I slept the best that night of any on our trip.
