We arrived in Paris on a high speed train, and found the weather much cooler and more pleasant for kiwi tourists.

As usual in the cities we saw a lot of Paris from the Open Top bus, sights included the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe, a square arch monument that honours those who fought and died for France in the wars and has the names of …

... hotel. Often Paris hotels won’t let clients into a room until 2:00, even if they might be able to do so earlier. It simplifies things for them, but isn’t good for tired travelers arriving after a short night on a plane. This time they did let me in, which was wonderful. I had a tasty turkey sandwich on a hearty French bread, wonderful and did a few hours of work in my room.

I met up with some very nice people from the US and Australia. Tim, our guide, took us to places not seen by many tourists. Wonderful markets, squares and a beautiful church I might not have gone to had he not taken ...

          ... on getting lost.
I love seeing all these sights that I have wanted to see for years and having the freedom to run around in Paris is pretty nice! I have almost mastered the subway system.
In the evenings, I go out for dinner with friends and we have so much ...

A lesson in travel blogging: save your entry before the iPad dies. You may think your European car is charging your iPad while you type away, but it's not. When we opened TravelPod today to write more about our travels, we discovered that what we had written about the rest of our time in Paris was gone. Le sigh. So catching up... Day 3: Paris We awoke bright and early to ride the subway and then the 40 minute commuter train out of central Paris to Versailles, the town ...
