Nice hotel within walking distance of the main station. Room was nice. Service was good. If you're using the bus to get around Salzburg the hotel is between stops about 300m in either direction. If you're going to Mirabelplatz you might as well walk the whole way since it's the next stop after boarding the bus.

Day 17 We set off at 8am for the 284km trip following the Vltava River to The Austrian border then onto Salzburg. Much of todays ride is through pristine Austrian countryside with picture perfect scenery. I even found my self singing "The `hills are alive with the sound of music. With songs they have herd for a thousand years". Unfortunately …

We've been going pretty hard for the past week and a half and I think the pace is starting to catch up with us. We saw no reason to hurry to Salzburg. As we found out in Heidelberg, Sunday is a day many shops and attractions are closed even in tourist centers. A cold rain was falling as we left < …

It would have been easy to get lost this time too, if I didn't tune into the fact that one section of access had been closed off due to stage construction readying for the Salzburg Festival which is set to begin this coming week. The restaurant for dinner was almost at the very top of the fortress, and the view was stunning. I had a beautiful view to ...

With destination and purpose yesterday, I walked down near Mirabell Palace where I knew I could find a good little tour company for getting the lay of the land in Salzburg and surrounds. To my delight, I happened upon the weekly Farmers' Market enroute, which was an amazing experience / such a feast for the senses. The tour company was nearby, I discovered, so after booking a short tour of the city/country, and while I waited for my guide - I ...

... High and by the end of the day, the students were wearing their US shirts!! After the classroom visits we met with the principals of KuMax, Maria Ward and Cleveland High School! It was lovely! We discussed formal things about the GAPP exchange and had some coffee and cake. The evening was spent at a student performance at Maria Ward Realschule. The play was about the life of Maria Ward - she originally came from England. As a catholic nun she sought out to educate the ...
