After the final awards ceremony prize we all gathered at the fan zone and then off to a Kiwi rowers and supporters function at a private room above the coffee shop at the head of the lake. It was a really nice function generously put on by the owners of Bank link, one of the main sponsors of NZ rowing.       ... line we saw a whole lot of notes being exchanged with little return and when we saw the price (40 Euro) we bailed and went “show” hopping and trying to find ourselves the best bargain. The wide variety of “shows” was incredible and some even had set themes they kept to for the interested parties. It was a situation that probably will never happen again, walking down the street surrounded by women in glass doors and bargain shopping for a good time ha ha. ...

      ... anger with the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A fairly large group of police were also there trying to keep things in check. That brought me back to the here and now and reminded me that some intractable problems are likely to remain so forever. It also reminded me of the Addicts or Serenity Prayer.       ... out for a couple of drinks and more wandering around this magnificent city, have I said it's the greatest city yet!?
