No air-con. Too near the main road, hence, very noisy at night or in the morning, even though location is quite convenient.

We flew into Munich late morning and after checking into our hotel we set off to look at Nymphenburg Palace. We have so many palaces and castles we will see on this trip and we know we don't have time to tour them all on the inside so we just walked around the grounds and gardens of this one. The palace used to be a summer residence for the rulers …

... it was real. Its weird but you want to disassociate yourself from the reality - we have all seen the movies and documentaries but when you are there its so sad that you subconsciously want to think it is or was all make believe.

Behind the reconstructed row of barracks are the original piles of all the other barracks and they lie like grave plots for quite a distance. Walking along the tree lined path it was quiet except ...

... a touristy as promised but great fun, very tasty beer and people having way too much fun. The oompah band rounded out the experience. We managed to catch the glockenspiel doing it's thing right when we got there. Life size figures telling the story of a wedding, the defeat of the evil baron complete with a joust and keg dancers who danced after the city got over a plague. So we managed to be here for only a few hours and have already managed to experience 2 of our must sees. ...

No air conditioning in the room so left window open but very noisy even with earplugs in. Dozed until about 9. First stop once out and about was the Neue Pinakothek museum aka art gallery. Has version of Van Goghs sunflowers that I do like and really nice Monet waterlillies. Could easily find room at home to hang the waterlillies. And first museum that has included path through their maze of rooms ...

... we managed to talk our way into grabbing a couple drinks at the famous Munich beer Garden Haufbraushouse with the train conductor--the image still seems a little fuzzy to me to, hard to picture. While waiting for the extremely nice Vanessa to meet us after she clocked out of work, we plan on just drinking one beer between the two of us (Bridget as you know doesn't like alcohol and lets just say I took three sips of my first German beer at dinner and thought ...
