This is a wonderful spot to stay to experience old town Amsterdam. Located right along one of the major loop canals, you can walk right across the street to grab either a canal boat or a tour bus. And public transportation of all kinds is within a block of the hotel. Lots of good food places and museums within easy walking distance. Hotel is fairly quiet on upper floors and well kept. Bathroom space is snug but adequate.

This morning I went to the Rijksmuseum and looked around for a couple of hours. Inside the building is beautiful especially the Great Hall. I saw Van Gogh's paintings and the painting of the Milkmaid. After leaving, I walked around Museumplein looking at the different souvenir stalls and bought some coasters from the Museum shop. Today, I left Munich and said goodbye to the friends on the tour. My flight was fine and arrived at hotel by 5pm. Upon arrival, I checked how to get to the Anne Frank house as I plan on doing this tomorrow. I found out it is only 2km away, so I'm going to walk. I also went for a walk and found the hop on hop off canal boat on the other side of the …

We bought combination canal boat/bus hop on/hop off tickets and spent several hours just travelling around the city by water and road. Wonderful architecture, both old and new, to …
Our flight left Portland at 2:00 in the afternoon, about 30 minutes late. The flght was just under 10 hours, so we arrived around midnight our time, which was 8:00 the next morning in Amsterdam time. We took a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, checked in, then had to find something to do for 3 hours since our room wasn't going to be ready for …
... we only had to go one stop. We made it to the central station no problem, then went to the ticket office and all bought our tickets and boarded the correct train. After a relatively long train ride, we were in Amsterdam! It was still early in the morning, but there were quite a lot of tourists around, as was to be expected with this city. 4 of us on the trip had DSLR's with us, so we looked like quite the tourist group ourselves. We began just ...
