So I am back in Interlaken.... I just can't help it, it calls to me, it draws me here. And this time I here with my dad. So I could not ask for anything more. There is just so much to see and do here I don't ever feel like I have been here too much I just love it. I feel so comfortable here and am happy when I am here in the Swiss alps. Just love it. So for some more fun here, my dad and I went up to the Jungfrau here, called the "Top of Europe" at about 11,700 ft. where we were but the actua...
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland indigosbFrom Venice to Interlaken we made 6 train stops, that's right, 6. One in Milan too which was really difficult to leave without buying anything labeled Dolce & Gabanna. But better things to come, right? YES! The views leading to Interlaken were incredible. The highest peaks, charming villages, green as far as the eye can see, and waterfalls from every mountain top. It's hard to believe that it's September here. We keep reminding ourselves that we need jackets and jeans to stay warm. Funny ...

... We caught the train back to Interlaken, to catch the Golden Pass Panoramic train to Luzern- as it went along the lakes and over the mountains, it was truly very scenic. Arriving in Lucerne and after getting our bearings, we walked past the famous covered bridge to our hotel which was in the old part of town. It was cold but clear when we went to have dinner but we soon realised that all of the restaurants in our area ...

We had gone all day thinking that it was Saturday but realised it was Friday when just before we went to bed, I checked the weather forecast for the next day. I also found out that it was going to rain most of the day, so we decided that maybe we should postpone our trip up to Lauterbrunnen.
Interlaken, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kiama_on_tour... on adventure sports. Unfortunatly, we couldn`t afford to do anything cool like that. So whilst the rest of the group went off paragliding and canyoning, Tom and I took the cheap option and caught a train up to Lauterbrunnen, a small town up the mountain. Although one of the first stops on the track, any further and the franks started piling up. So we decided to hike through the tiny town. The view was amazing and was at first, hard to absorb entirely. The peak of Jungfrau, the ...

It really is spectacular even with the cloud cover and I can only imagine what it would be like on a clear day. The caught the train further down the mountain and walked from Winderswil to Interlarken via Lake Brinze. Only got a little bit wet and was nice to just wander around the lake.

The highest part we reached was 2,900 meters and there was still some snow so we made a couple of little snow men for our granddaughter Ava. Lou and I got into a snow ball fight which did not end in tears. The views all around were magnificent, we could see the Jungfrau and the Eiger ...
Swiss Alps, Switzerland jennykelly... across the border controls without showing them. While in Basel, we saw a theatre production called "Virus", a modernized version of Euripedes' "Bakchen". We arrived in the early afternoon (about a group of twenty from Freiburg) and while almost everyone visited a Kunst museum (art museum), I walked around the city with Josh and a girl from CYF. Basel had a Messe going on (loosely translated as a fair) so there was a huge ...
Basel, Switzerland d.matheusik... was a Vauxhall. I was impressed quite a bit, it was one of those Vauxhall Zafira, and as anyone will know from my IBM days I do have quite a thing for cars. This thing was very swift to say the least plus had criuse contrl so got me from A - B in double quick time. I know your thinking here comes the geekiness out of me. Any how I didnt get told off too much for having an accident which was good, but to be fair it could have been worse ...
Interlaken, Switzerland sheffster... over. They had flown in to Amsterdam, stayed a few days, then come straight here. Then, something wonderful happened. Someone pointed out the window. All conversation ceased. Buildings, stores, and all other signs of civilization were gone. The grandest of snow capped mountains had sprouted up all around us while the train chugged along the edge of the most beautiful and serene of lakes. The sun was just setting below the horizon, seen through a tiny opening in between two ...
