Cote d' Azur

I instantly fell in love with Nice because of its beautiful old town lined with small cafes and creperies. The warmth & hospitality of the people made me want to stay there forever. It has all the amenities of a modern city, but the quirkiness of a typical town in the French Riviera. The air smelled like lavender & we had our fair share of eat all you can mussels. I was lucky enough to spend 6 days in this beautiful place with my husband & 20 month old son. From Nice, we took the ...

2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote d´Azur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote d´Azur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!

More when I start travelling...

Boring drive day so here is life in Scooby

... if we want to via a plug in the side of Scooby. We've only hooked up to mains twice and found that we can charge all our gadgets from the leisure battery without running out of power. Laptop, Camera, phone, iPod, eBook and GPs. The fridge goes 3 ways off Mains when plugged in, off battery when the car is running and off gas when stationary. It's nice in Nice

... it to say, we were forced to spend an extra day in Nice, which allowed Paul to begin feeling better. We’re happy to report he’s on the mend.

We were both healthy enough to enjoy the first day of Nice together and a trip to Monaco. We went to the beach in Nice and saw about a dozen people swimming in the Mediterranean. Jenny stuck her toe in and felt that if the air temperature had been warmer, she could have done it. We got lost in the ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... of swimming in the pool, we had a sleep when we checked into the hotel, and it was probably the best nooze we've had since we began our journey. Feeling a little refreshed, w decided to splash out that night with a delicious pasta in a cute little restaurant and pour la dessert, we went back to the bakery we discovered earlier in the week for mille fluer for Dee and tarte au citron avec meringue pour le Lewey. Les desserts c'est tres bien! Apart from splashing out at the hotel, we'd been ...

Nice Nice

... hours we had dinner at a burger place which was called Quick Burger. So quick in fact that our burgers were still mooing!! After chucking them we stopped at a crepe place. We tried to watch Harry Potter as the theater was playing it in English but it was going to mean waiting around for 2.5 hours so we just headed back to bed. We woke up early to take the train in to Monaco for breakfast and see the famous Casino.Turns out going to bed early so we can get up early is not a good ...

Nice and Eze le Village

... in at the Fragonard Perfumerie and picked up a bottle of perfume and some hand lotions. We caught the bus back and headed out for dinner. I ordered a 4 cheese pizza and pretty much got a brick of cheese on bread. Now I love my cheese, but this was a little ridiculous! We then walked off our cheese laden meal down by the Promenade once again. We stopped and had a few drinks. I had a kir which was a black current liquor and white wine and loved it! Hartley had a pastis ...
