About 3 hours on the road today leaving Norway and into Sweden. Lots of very pretty lakes and farming on the rolling hills. Mainly dairy type farming and corn in this area. Karlstad is a pretty town but there are not a lot of historical things to visit. The church dates back to 1737. There are lots of pretty waterways and canals. Today we leave Stockholm and head towards Oslo. We are picking up our rental car which of course means driving on the other side of the road.

We have a VW Golf and it took us more than a few minutes to get it out of its parking spot in the basement of a shopping centre car park. Once we were out on the roads we made our way onto the freeway and we were on our way.

Stopped at a picturesque village called Mariefred with a castle called Gripsholm Castle, it is located by lake Malaren in south central Sweden 60 Kim west of Stockholm.

... Stugor in Kristinehamn. Had we known that reception closed at 1600, we might have put our foot down a tad. No matter, we were checked in just in time. Cost is £16 a night, although we had to purchase a Swedish camping card for £15 because not all Swedish campsites recognise the International one. (Why not? Don't ask me!)
