1-Stop Midlands Park Burmah Road Georgetown, Pulau Penang, Pinang, Malaysia, 4-227-7111
We stayed on this Island for 2 nights. A bit of a weird place to be honest and not the safest place to be either (at night). We stayed in a place called Georgetown.
Penang, Malaysia chrisncarolWe didn't get to see much of the famed beauty of Penang as I seemed to leave KL with a unpleasant stomach bug. The bug as they do in this area killed any appetite I had left for Asian food and left me with a terrible stomach and headache. Ofcourse we were expecting that one of us would sooner or later pickup a undesirable travel bug and were medically prepared treat the symptoms. As always the best medicine is often rest so we slept in the day after we arrived and later ventured out to the cl...

... into little boats which took us out the the speedboat moored a hundred metres or so from the shore. I was joined by a Greek girl, Vas, who we'd met the previous evening at Panorama, and we had breakfast together near the jetty before I went to the office of the travel agency through which I'd booked my ticket to Ko Tao. Vas was only going half an hour down the road, so the driver of the mini bus gave her a lift with me and the ...

Ask of alternative options or variants of the item that you know clearly don’t exist. 5. Slightly raise your counter offer. (to the point where it’s a neglible 5 RM away from the original price) 6. Add the words “and I’ll take it no problem ...
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia bruceandian... landed!! We went to see if our washing was ready, went to the local internet cafe where we checked the time of the next ferry leaving the island and ran back to our room to pack. Bags on our backs, money in hand, we went to reception where there was no sign of our blonde haired friend so I began writing a note explaining that we were leaving and that we would pay for one night and no sooner had I underlined the 'thankyou' the door opened and she ...
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia followingmyfeet... the sea, very rickety, and again a wonderful opportunity to experience a different life-style. Time then to return for another internet fix and food at the Beach Blanket Babylon.
Our Sunday evening meal at the E&O proved to be a big disappointment. Billed as a spectacular buffet spread, with cuisine from around the world, this was certainly true, and the food itself was sumptuous, it was the "ambience" of the restaurant that grated ...
... of the boat so hard it looked like his hands would crack! After about an hour’s worth of banging up and down on the water, we reached the smaller of the two Perhentian Islands where we wanted to stay, and boarded a tiny little boat to take us to the shore. The tiny boat dumped us off in the water, since it was too shallow to go all the way to the sand, and we trudged through the shallows with our huge packs until we made it to shore. Then the great rat-race for accommodation began…
... here. It's all new. Nobody treats another race, nationality, or religion like a recent intruder. And the diversity of food and religions is the proof. Today's wanderings in the equatorial midday sun under my parasol-- (yeah, I know, sounds sissyish, but before anyone wants to crack wise, you try it, buster)--took me to an old English fort (Ft. Cornwallis, named after that ...
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia wandering_man... onwards, so I'm only going to be able to share a bit of it with you. :(] 4:30 the next morning a 'driver', who lives on the sofas in the foyer of our guesthouse, takes us across the bridge to the mainland for the early train. As he goes he points out the Tescos, the Wallmarts, the changes that have bulldozed the areas he has known. It's very sad, as we pass the great buildings that he tells us block the views of the sea he grew up with and his country seems to leave him behind.
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia helenburnill... but no, it was just a bhoy to mark where this Russian boat was torpedoed during the latter stages of WWII. This Logan fellow was a hero of the people apparantly- can't remember why! Francis Light set up loads of schools! The Eastern & Oriental Hotel was set up by the Raffles Bros. Final thing on the tour was listed simply as a garage ...
