... and was a total blast! Oh and Blake made a friend along the way...see the pictures.   Staying in Obertraun has a different appeal; more of a community and a little less touristy than Hallstatt. With only a couple of restaurants in town, Blake and I ate dinner all three nights at a family-owned pizzeria/restaurant/bowling alley. ... forecast had changed and looked gloomy for the next few days. The lack of an awning was a “game changer”. Dawn had planned to camp but with no “roof” over our kitchen area plus the inclement weather this wasn’t viable. Adjacent to the camp was a charming pension.

... remember our new friends. We sat and visited with them outside one of the quaint cafes and discovered he was a retired school counselor. We emailed the photo of us together to them when we got back to the hotel.
Some of the most interesting places we visited in Hallstatt were the very old churches, the very tiny, but well-kept cemetery high up the side of the mountain, and the bone house at the back of the cemetery. ...
