Adriatic Adventure, 14-11-14 Tarvisio to Lienz, Austria via pass
Today was to be a kind of exploring day or better still a farewell day in
I left my hotel in Tarvisio and headed along the slow road to Lienz in
Austria. The satnav seemed determined to take me along the m/way and I kept
adding in places as via points but for some strange reason it still wanted the
m/way and then bring me back to these places instead of via them. It must have

keep getting bigger and bigger and are just beautiful.
Finally I arrive into the town of Tarvisio and decide if there is a hotel
available then I will stay here as its just not worth riding in the dark. Sure
enough there are a few hotels and strangely enough the one I chose had a sign
outside saying "Bikers Welcome".
Booked in and bike parked safely in the garage it was time to relax and
think of my route through the Alps.
We departed Rome on time at 7.50am and had a pleasant rail trip to Venice Mestre station where we changed to a coach for the trip to Villach. Train got up to 250kph in places and there were lots of tunnels. The Coach was very comfortable and the scenery very interesting as we left the plain behind and headed into the mountains.
