... The road winds through forested hills and the Fall foliage was just beginning to show its mettle. There are scenic lookouts at various spots and we sampled the Hairpin Turn and climbed to Whitcomb Summit (in the car, I might add). The scenery was stunning and we enjoyed a brief picnic in the warm sun. Then back into North Adams before climbing up to the highest point in Massachusets, Mt Greylock (almost 4000 ft up), with views ...

Today was always going to be a non-event; we had to drive 200+ miles from Henrietta/Rochester to Albany/Troy. The drive on the I90 gave me the chance to fiddle with all the new knobs, dials and levers, but opening the boot, sorry trunk, was beyond me for quite a while. Had a bit of a sleep in although Wes did not have a good night so he did not really get any more sleep than usual. Wonderful breakfast upstairs where we were treated to china crockery and metal knives and forks. It is amazing how much you appreciate small things like that when you have had paper and plastic for 4 1/2 weeks.

Went for a drive to Albany, the capital of New York state. We are staying about 12 miles from the centre of Albany which would be about Bald Hills ...

Quite a different stay last night. The hotel has a contract with Red Cross to provide accommodation for homeless families. There were quite a few families most of whom were in a separate wing from where we were. We could hear young children awake around midnight. Breakfast was an interesting experience. One lady was obviously extremely stressed by her situation and had a child who was having quite a tantrum. Mother was unable to cope and yelled at the little girl. Other mothers were ...

    Off to the Real Woodstock

When planning our trip to see the fall colors that included a trip to New York City, we discovered that the location where Woodstock was held was close. Ellen and I grew up in the 60's and the music revolution. The museum was wonderful and really brought back some great memories of music and friends. The information panels really ...
