    ... avoided Fort Bill by taking us up the west side of the river Lochy joining the main road at the memorial to the WW2 commandos who trained in this area. We stopped at the Letterfinlay Hotel for a coffee and toilet break, sitting on the deck overlooking Loch Lochy.     ... a really good talk about how he trains the birds and the birds obligingly give us a fine demonstration.     The village consists of a long street which I followed down to a small harbour, returning to the road across farmland, a brief respite from the traffic.
    A little further on is Latheron and here the A9 turns inland while the coast road becomes the A99. I had hoped this might mean fewer vehicles. If this was the case it was modest at best.
