    ... the current Duke maintains a very low profile....and there have even been recent attempts to topple and deface the nearby imposing memorial to an earlier D of S.

    ... a really good talk about how he trains the birds and the birds obligingly give us a fine demonstration. We see eagle hawk, peregrine falcon and another variety of falcon - we have forgotten already :-( Each performs beautifully for the falconer and us, the admiring audience.     ... an interior that is "stunning and an experience in its own right" - well I couldn't disagree with that. My fish and chips were excellent and as in Golspie the night before the place was very busy.
    Total distance covered 18.7 miles - my left foot was still feeling the effects of blisters but hadn't hindered my progress.
