Obviously the donkey business provides an income stream for the locals. A bit of research shows there has been some publicity for the issue over the years and some of the visiting tour ships appear to quietly encourage their customers to eschew the trade. As for the actual local tour companies, it appears to be a delicate issue. In any event, it is not a nice element to an otherwise very enjoyable stay at Santorini.
... pool was refreshingly cool after sitting in the warm sun reading our books and it was such a relaxing and peaceful morning. For lunch, we walked into Imereovigli and found a little taverna that served local cuisine, and we each had a pork souvlaki. It took a while to come out but it was worth the wait - it tasted delicious and went well with my Greek wine and Lachie's beer. Lachie bought me a cute bracelet for my birthday and we found a little bakery ...
... for the morning and this tired little cookie was in to bed and fast asleep. My accommodation has been wonderful, the owners amazing, their mumma the cook, super amazing with breakfast and my whole experience is definitely on i'll be coming back for.....next time with a special someone me thinks ;) Unfortunately i haven't been able to get my iPhone to sync and a lot of the photos are on my camera....sorry guys!!! ... was a combination of bronze and glass. They had fishes and mermaids and all kinds of interesting sculptures which unfortunately I was not allowed to photograph once I was in the shop. I walked passed the old port where they still have the donkeys bring the people up from the very bottom. They have also got a cable car which I am not sure if it was already there the last time I was here.

... off to save your money when you can catch a glimpse on every turn of the path. Although we couldn't see the sun set from our location, the night was growing dim and we found an empty little taverna in the quiet town and enjoyed some traditional Greek dishes: Greek Salad, Keftethes (meatballs) and Moussaka.
