    Our first morning in Cracow dawned clear, a good omen, and we took our trial ride in the city -- an easy couple hours on their marvelous bike path system, giving us ample opportunity to check out the gears, the brakes, the saddle settings, and oh yes, beautiful views of the Vistula.     ... long before that. It was added to many times from the 15th century to the 18th. Sadly it was badly damaged in a fire in 1800 that apparently burned for 14 days. It was again restored into what we see today.



    Entry to the castle and St Martin's Chapel inside the walls costs €6 (but only €3.50 for the old git). ...

    ... the trippers are piling in and the rafts begin to cast off into the fast running flow.

    We set off by other means and head towards the Polish border to the north. A lovely sweeping well-surfaced road winds up through the villages, over a small pass and down to the river that marks the crossing point.

    ... Mom would have been so proud, taught me well. We had a 3 hour bus ride back because we hit traffic in the city. Just had enough time to shower and go to church. Since we hadn't eaten dinner we went to the Hard Rock Cafe in the square. It was fun and probably the most American thing you can do in krakow. I was most excited because they had Heinz ketchup! I haven't that in 2 whole weeks and Polands ketchup is like sugary tomato, not good. Last week of classes and finals coming ...

    ... step! So, we hired a small bus to take us back to our B&B. For 5 zloties ($1.65) each, it was so worth it! All I wanted to do was take a shower and chill out the rest of the afternoon.

    Others walked back into town to look around and shop. Dinner was at a nice local restaurant next to our B&B. Then it was off to bed and get ready to head to Krakow by bus tomorrow.
