Ok, I pretty much imitated crawling in the last few meters, but I got there.
It was easily the most elevation I've ever walked in one go before.
Now, I need to admit something here. I carried a chocolate bar all the way to the top, because I wanted to get a photo of it.

... and friendly and supportive staff, plus Wengen itself with no vehicular access is a very relaxing village. I knew Grindelwald, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland would be quite different.
It's a pretty easy transfer, a train from Wengen (1,274 m) up to Kleine Scheidegg (2,061 m), change trains for one heading down the mountain to Grindelwald (1,034 m).
