... as scary like in the daytime. The second day our slight westerly breeze turned out to actually come from the North East, but was not a breeze because it actually managed to blow us about 40 degrees further out than where we wanted to be - better than being blown inshore though I suppose, but with big winds comes high seas - not piddly little 1 metre swells which were forecast, No - bloody big 4 & 5 metre swells which fancied going in the ...

Last Day in Camaret

A travel blog entry by ramblingsailors on Aug 06, 2015

Tomorrow we leave to cross Biscay, we have opted to go to Ria de Viveiro due to a big swell around La Coruna. So after a great nights sleep on our new mooring we were up early preparing for tomorrow which will be the biggest voyage of our adventure so far. The very name 'Biscay' conjures up images of heavy seas, rough weather and fills you with dread, we have waited for the right weather window, some people don't have this privilege and get caught ...

By the time we had finished It was 4pm and that was me done for the day - the rest gets checked tomorrow. The weather is terrible, blowing like hell and constantly raining hard, but hey ho you can't have sunshine everyday. The Marina has been filling all day due to the weather, people are rafting 3-4 deep in the ...

We pay a 50% supplement for being a catamaran but on this mooring I think they should be paying us - if you ever visit Camaret in a yacht, trust me don't moor on the outer breakwater it is horrendous. Tracey went to the hairdressers this morning until lunch time so ...

Full Day Foraging

First thing this morning we had to move the boat to another mooring on the outside quay due to a rally of yachties arriving - I don't like motoring in breezy weather, the boat is very difficult to steer but with the help of a couple of people we managed to get her alongside without any drama, but the motion is worse than being at sea - so no sleep tonight I'm guessing. The rest of the day we spent foraging in the bay, we found razor clams, cockles, mussels, lob worms and peeler crabs. ...
